Mandating insecurity

We have found that the damage that could be caused by law enforcement excep-
tional access requirements would be even greater today than it would have been 20
years ago.

So write 15 of the world’s leading cryptographers and security specialists in response to a demand on the part of American and British intelligence agencies for “exceptional access” to encrypted communications.  As a public service, here is a link to their report, dated July 6 and entitled Keys Under Doormats: mandating insecurity by requiring government access to all data and communications.
