A few people have written to point out misprints, and this is as safe a place as any to list them before forgetting them, while waiting for a second printing.
1. One was mentioned (in an otherwise silly blog post) by someone named Alex Bliokh, who does me the immense (and hardly deserved) honor of comparing me to Yuri Ivanovich Manin. The typesetter of the love formula from H. M. Hubey’s Catastrophe Theory and the Human Sexual Response, cited in note 21 on p. 357, did indeed omit the time derivatives. The correct formula (blurry in the manuscript I submitted) is
If you suspect that the formula may make sense, you can read what the variables represent on p. 357 of the book, or in Hubey’s article.
2. A reader named Richard Bauer was kind enough to point out three misprints:
on p. 259, line 8, the sequence 2, 6, 10, 12 should be 2, 6, 10, 14;
on p. 262, line 6, readers should be reminded that formula (I) is in chapter α;
on p. 314, line 9, the correct formula should be Sqrt(1^2 + 2^2) = Sqrt(5).
