here is the upshot of this week’s review of the book by Ernie Davis in SIAM News:

It was agreed that the author of Mathematics without Apologies did not have the
intentions attributed to him in the review, and that the book’s occasionally ambiguous
style is partly responsible for the mistaken impression.
